Support City Harvest and Its Partners During Hunger Action Month

City Harvest, New York City’s first and largest food rescue organization, recently launched its Let’s Drive Hope Together campaign in honor of Hunger Action Month—a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action against hunger. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, 2.5 million working-age New Yorkers were struggling to make ends meet, and now, many more are turning to us for help. City Harvest is asking supporters to fuel their work by taking action to help feed our neighbors in need.

Here are some ways you can support City Harvest and our restaurant partners during Hunger Action Month!

  • Ron Ben-Israel Treats’ City Harvest Cookie: For the month of September, Ron Ben-Israel Treats will donate 10% of the sale of each “City Harvest Cookie” box purchased. Each box, which features five Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate cookies, will help feed three New York City families in need for a day!
  • GupShup x HOUSE of WARIS Botanicals: Gramercy Park's modern Indian restaurant GupShup has teamed up with HOUSE of WARIS Botanicals on a special cocktail for Hunger Action Month. A portion of proceeds from sales of The Red Fort, made with Ten To One Rum infused with HOUSE of WARIS Botanica's Hibiscus Citron tea, will be donated to City Harvest.
  • Raise a Glass with USHG: This September, USHG is raising a glass and driving hope for City Harvest during Hunger Action Month. Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke, Daily Provisions, and Union Square Events are each featuring a specialty cocktail throughout the month. For every drink sold, $1 will be donated to City Harvest.
  • Olé & Obrigado Wine Packages: Olé & Obrigado has created two unique wine packages featuring a curated selection from family-owned wineries in Spain and Portugal. Sales of these cases will benefit our work, with $50-200 of each package sold going back to City Harvest. With your shipment, you'll receive an invitation to a complimentary virtual tasting.
  • Don Angie’s Lasagna at Gelso & Grand: In honor of the annual San Gennaro Festival, on September 17-20, visit Geslo & Grand and order Don Angie’s signature lasagna, courtesy of Food Council members Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli where all proceeds will benefit City Harvest

Another way you can get involved right now is by supporting City Harvest Food Council restaurants. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically impacted NYC’s restaurant and hospitality community. If you are interested in standing with the chefs and restaurants that support City Harvest year-round, you can find a list of City Harvest Food Council restaurants that are open for outdoor dining, take-out, and delivery.
